The Wedding

The Wedding

This was written for a friends daughter. Names and dates have been changed so i can share it with you all

The Wedding

The house is busy.
Mum makes a fuss!
I am so excited,
as around me they rush.

My dress is beautiful.
I’m overwhelmed with emotion.
Its hard to see past,
all this commotion.

Scott will be waiting,
for me at the alter.
When walking up the isle,
please don’t let me falter.

The way we feel about each other,
with everyone we would like to share.
Making a public declaration,
about how much we both care.

When I get to the alter,
I look back at the crowds.
I see my mum and dad’s face,
they both look so proud.

As we take our vows,
I hear someone sigh.
I turn around to look,
and see my mum cry.

To the reception now,
time to greet the guests.
As we welcome them in,
all dressed in their best.

Time for the speeches;
Scott watches what he says,
he knows if he steps out of line,
he will not get laid.

Start as you mean to go on,
my mum always said.
If he does as he told,
then he can sleep in your bed.

Scott knows the score,
to do as he told.
To be quiet and submissive,
not gallus and bold.

The day is now over,
I look at my ring.
If I could do it again,
I would change only one thing.

You see someone was missing
From our special day.
Someone who is loved,
but around could not stay.

We know you are with us
although your spirits up above.
We can feel your presence
and surrounded by your love.

July the 12th 1992 is the day.
That will always be seen;
as the day I got married
and felt like a queen
