Life Cycle

Life Cycle

Like a clap of thunder,
you enter the world.
A special little wonder,
a boy or a girl.

We watch every move,
for the first few years.
We rejoice in every smile,
and feel all you tears.

Time for nursery,
we have to leave you there.
A few hours a day,
Trust someone else with your care.

Now you are five,
to school you must go.
We pray that you thrive.
and meet friend and not foe.

The first school trip,
we ache as you leave.
We make sure your equipped,
and on your return feel relieved.

Now its the high school.
You are growing so fast.
The years of my being a kid,
are all in the past.

Your eighteen now,
to collage you go.
You do a course in drama,
and are the lead in the show.

Your thirty now,
with a family of your own.
You’ve bought your own business premises,
your car and your home.

Now you are sixty,
all your family are older.
You have beautiful grand-kids,
and one who’s a soldier.

Now you are dying,
they’re all round your bed.
They say their goodbyes.
They lay you to rest.

Now you can join us,
in heaven up above.
Watch over your family,
and send them your love.
